U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND US INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMMISSION TO RELEASE TARIFF RULING ON ALUMINUM EXTRUSIONS FROM CHINA
As a result of the ongoing Department of Commerce’s investigation and determination, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs, and Border Protection Agency has suspended liquidation of all imports of aluminum extrusions from China and requires a cash deposit or bonds on these imports. Definitive countervailing duty and/or anti-dumping duties may be assessed on imports of aluminum extrusions from China as a result of these investigations.
The investigation clearly defines aluminum extrusions with reference to their end use, such as heat sinks. Heat sinks, at all levels of production, are a subset of aluminum extrusions. The list of subject material includes standard aluminum profiles
such as rods, pipes, bars, and solids.
Final determination and potential tariffs are expected to be announced in May 2011 for aluminum extruded products being imported from China.
